Course Description
In this course, we will focus on elevating our basic darkroom knowledge using new techniques and methods for printing in the darkroom. This class is perfect for anyone who has previous darkroom knowledge who wants to continue their education and experience printing with a class again. Students will be introduced to split filter printing, printing with fiber, and many other techniques.
This course does not cover film development, so students must bring developed and cut negatives to the class.
Requirements
– Students must have 1 or more months of previous black and white darkroom experience, or have previously taken the Darkroom Essentials & Processes course offered by the Photo Center.
– Students must provide their own black and white darkroom paper. Ilford Glossy or Matte Fiber paper is recommended. Instructor will go over any other needed materials.

Instructor Bio
Ashley Martin-Prideaux (b. 2000) is an artist based in San Francisco, CA. They make multimedia work primarily based in photography and ceramics. They received a BFA in photography from California College of the Arts in 2022. Ashley loves to print in the darkroom, make books and zines, and make work from archival work and found images. Their photographic work centers around themes of queerness, chosen family, and intimacy. Ashley loves to photograph people and tell visual stories through their images.
