Advance Techniques in Cyanotype

6/7 – 6/28
Wednesday 5-7pm
Katherine Akey

Course Description

In this class we’ll be exploring one of the oldest photographic processes, the cyanotype. This alternative process produces a characteristic blue hued photographic print and has been used by artists to create works ranging from photographs to books, sculptures, in situ installations, costumes, animations, and more. This class will take participants beyond the basics of the process; we’ll explore the many materials that cyanotype can be applied to and will try our hand at toning cyanotypes with tea, coffee, wine, and tannic acid.

Requirement

Photo Center Orientation is not required for this class, but it is required if student wishes to come to the Photo Center outside the workshop to develop film on their own and/or print their own photos in the Darkroom.
